Bumblebee is the smallest and physically weakest Autobot in comparison to the rest of the crew. And while his stature enables him to do his job better than most others, he remains self-conscious about his size.

Before he could introduce himself though, he was attacked by Decepticons and was badly damaged in the process.

One of the teenagers, a guy named Buster Witwicky, took him to his father’s auto repair shop. Bumblebee pleaded with them to repair him, for his energy was dying out. Buster’s dad swiftly fixed him up and then volunteered to help convert the Autobot’s native fuel resources into a suitable form that the Transformers could easily use. Bumblebee happily too Buster with him back to the Ark to relay the good news.
