During the Dinobot Hunt, Bumblebee headed to Alaska together with Ratchet and Optimus Prime, in order to help the unit attempting to overcome the Dinobots – Sludge and Grimlock. While investigating the perimeter, Bumblebee was shocked to discover a cloaked Autobot shuttlecraft and 3 of his fellow team members who had mysteriously disappeared earlier in the Hunt.

He also stumbled upon a Decepticon-issue sonic lance that was installed in the ship, and being used to drive Sludge mad.

Suspecting a massive booby trap, Bumblebee quickly evacuated his comrades and led them to safety before using his gun to blast the sonic lance.

When the Autobots decided to fill out their ranks, Bumblebee was given the task of escorting four new recruits (Tracks, Skids, Hoist and Smokescreen) on a tour of the planet. He decided a Brick Springhorn concert would be an ideal destination, but the evil Decepticons sabotaged the event in order to harvest energon.

Bumblebee disobeyed orders to keep away and instead led his four young charges into battle, thus saving the convert.

When the Robot-Master made an appearance on tv and claimed to control the Transformers, Bumblebee’s questioned their human business partner, G.B. Blackrock, and wanted to know what was going on. Robot-Master next broadcast in a coal mine right next to a de-energized Megatron.

However, before Bumblebee and the others could investigate, they were pushed aside by an overwhelming number of Earth military forces.

This incident caused Bumblebee to question his usefulness to the Autobot army, and he decided to abandon them without a word. The Decepticons saw this as a good opportunity to kidnap him. Hiding in a dilapidated car lot, he was stolen by two human beings, whom he adopted for a short period of time.

The Decepticons made several attempts to apprehend him, but before they got to him, Bumblebee was finally rescued by the rest of the Autobots, an act that reminded him how valuable he was to the team.
